Currently...

So, I have been gone a lot. Very busy with college, work, and going from doctor to doctor. I won't be explaining any of that though.

I apologize for not submitting anything in forever and for being so gone and busy. I am trying to get caught up on Daily Deviations- and I'm sorry but I will not likely be leaving comments on them, due to time purposes and there just being SO many wonderful deviations to love.

I have some random sketchy doodles and such that I have worked on... but unfortunately, I have yet to complete something. I'm looking for motivation and inspiration.

QUESTIONS
Would you like for me to upload some doodles?
Would you like for me to upload some photo/manipulations of myself?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

FIRSTLY, I want you ALL to be made aware of THIS
News: Policy: Break it down easy - Tracing Edition

To summarize, Tracing is now legal in the deviantart community for little more reason than basically, 'Who is to say what "art" really is?'

They go so far as to say:
"At deviantART we believe that tracing has a place in our community. We consider it to be a valid learning tool..."

This was my response to the News Article, Tell me if I'm Crazy here:
"I know and understand and can respect that you are the boss and we are nothing but users...

And I understand that what I say will likely do no good, because why should you listen to me or any of the other art users on this site...

BUT...
I need to say something.
I along with many many people and deviants I know do NOT agree with tracing, and by tracing I mean you copy and paste an image, or you take tracing paper and directly trace over an image.

Why isn't that art? Because the individual isn't actually learning anything but how to draw lines over lines through paper, or use the crtl+c and v keys. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Now, I personally can understand an artist copying a work in the sense that they are doing it in another medium or something to PRACTICE something that they see that they liked, and to further improve their own skills be it work on proportions or what have you WHILE GIVING CREDIT where credit is due...

I mean, I can even understand and respect fan art... but NOT when it's just copy and pasted or traced...
But again, CREDIT where CREDIT IS DUE....

... BUT... simply tracing...? no. I'm not going to lie, this new policy even scares me... and heh... Honestly, as if deviantart hasn't already lost numerous wonderful artists- this really isn't going to help. This is only going to encourage MASS fan art (with little to no original work as has been the growing trend thus far already), and MANY copyright infringement complaints. Nice job.

There are numerous artists in an uproar right now; but I think *kmye-chan has some good points in her recent Journal: + DA's tracing policy.... D: +, if you are interested.

On a lighter note,
I know I keep talking about uploading new work. I was seriously making steps towards doing so but honestly this policy kind of scares me and at this exact moment I don't have the time to do more... I have TONS of ideas actually, and some that I'm really excited about ... just... I lack the time and I fear I won't be able to get my idea out well enough on the paper or what have you... I'm sure you guys know how that goes. After this week I hope to start working on things more again... But right now I need to get caught up in my college work- My personal life has been suffering immensely and has also made my schoolwork suffer in the sense that I've been so stressed and emotionally drained I can't function anymore. SO... basically, I hope to get SOMETHING to you guys in the near future...

If you want, I have a few silly doodley-cartooney things I could upload... They aren't massively impressive though which is why I haven't wasted your time with them yet. It's up to you...

Let me know how you guys are doing... What's new? Motivations? etc?
AND please, keep informed and inform others about the new legalized tracing policy... thing.

Currently...

Firstly, I apologize for not updating for so long. It started as I didn't have enough time, then I got very depressed, and decided I shouldn't continue to do art anymore.
I'm still unsure of how I feel about continuing art, I wanted to stop because of personal reasons, lack of ambition and inspiration, and because I convinced myself that I'm just not good enough. I make art look bad. etc.
I'm not sure what I think now. I had some people yell at me for thinking that way; and now recently I've begun to visit DA more and I have been much more impressed with the art I have been seeing; encouraging me to keep trying.

I have started doodling again... Maybe I'll upload the doodles... I'm unsure ... I'll try to upload some other art though that I recently got back that I did over the last couple years...

I hope you all are doing well... Thank you for putting up with me

Currently...

So Originally I planned on finishing my general deviantART... information of sorts right after my last journal, but I don't have the patience at the moment... so I must put it off for now

Today was supposed to be the end of the art showing at the art museum I had mentioned... and for the others who were in it, today it did end. For me, Mine ended like two weeks early. . . due to the fact that I had to send my pieces off somewhere else, and so, kind of disappointing. Only a few people really saw my stuff. But whatever. . . maybe I'll get my art in there some other time ... -doubtful.-

Also, The last couple weeks have been the worst weeks ever. . . I've been so busy and I've had so many issues with other people... Just depressing. I won't go into details, but just trust me, possibly the worst last two weeks ever. And to crown it all off, one of my favorite artists here on deviantART, =Princess-of-Shadows has left the deviantART community. Today she re-activated her gallery at least, for portfolio purposes, but she's gone, and that killed me. Not just because she's a very good artist, but just because she's always been so wonderful and nice.

Now, I'm having a sort of mid-mid-life crisis. My birthday is on the 7th, and I am not ready for it. For me, birthdays are like how other people see New Year's... I end up thinking back on the whole year since my last birthday, and try to see if anything memorable came out of it, which usually it's all bad, and I get overwhelmingly depressed. . . and generally, nothing good comes of it anyway.
Another year older, Another year closer to dying.
...Good thing Bad thing? ...I don't know. ...Sorry, Morbid humor

Lately It's been hard for me to work on my art, since I've been so busy. But, recently I was asked by a friend of mine to do some artwork for his band, so I have been working on that... Which is going OK I guess. Lineart was already done, but I had to make some adjustments and now I have to finish the shading and coloring, and see how they like it. Hopefully they will, but if they don't, then... I guess Hopefully you guys at least do

I have been meaning to do this stuff for a while. My next entry will basically the "rules" for MY artwork... You guys (my watchers) shouldn't have to worry about it really, You (my watchers) respect me and are respectful people
Similarly, This entry is for general rules of deviantart. If you feel I've missed something, Comment/Add if you wish, whatever. Just these are some basic things People "neglect" on DA.

BOTH THIS AND MY NEXT ENTRY WILL BE PRIMARILY FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES... so don't worry, you don't HAVE to read them...

***PLEASE, look and take notice of the Helpful links I include near the bottom of this entry- hopefully they help you and if they don't currently, hopefully they serve some helpful purpose for you eventually.

Firstly, some General Rules for DeviantArt that are too often forgotten...

General Rules of Deviantart to Live By

Be Respectful. This means:

"If you can't say something nice or constructive (referring to critiquing and constructive criticism), Don't say anything at all."
NEVER insult the artist, or the model, or what have you. If you dislike something, say so in a constructive, appropriate manner.
Fellow Deviant =Pelicanh Has some good points in his Journal

DO NOT steal the work of ANYONE.
Self explanatory; It is dishonest, petty, and mean whether it's traditional artwork, writing/poetry, photographs, etc.

ASK, don't ASSUME
Just because you like someones piece of art, or think you could put it to better use (for ex, on your myspace or other)- DON'T just assume it will be ok for you to do so.
Likewise, Just because you think you could "improve" a persons work doesn't mean you should (Not talking about Stock photos)... And IF you decide to do so anyway, accept the fact that:

1) You're stealing/ripping an artist
2) 2 words: COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.
3) You will have One very pissed off Artist and Artist Community for you to deal with.

CREDITING
If you use stock, CREDIT IT.
If you ask to use something for a myspace/blog/website etc and you have the PERMISSION OF THE ARTIST, CREDIT IT.
Anytime you use something, brushes, textures, stock, etc that are not your own, CREDIT THEM.
Even if you have been merely influenced by someone else's work, CREDIT them; why not?

THOU SHALT NOT SPAM.


UNDERSTAND

Not every artist has the same Artist Policies for their work
(For example, just because ONE artist said you can use their work on your myspace/blog/website/whatever doesn't mean that EVERY artist will allow you to do so)

When In Doubt...
Ask

-The Artist
-Deviantart Forums
-Deviantart Staff/Artist Relations/etc.
-DON'T DO IT.

Everyone Has their Own Opinions of Art and what "ART" is
If you don't like what you see/read...
DON'T BLAME THE ARTIST.
If you find something you don't agree with or like, Either

-Leave appropriate constructive criticism
-Don't look at it; No one's MAKING you look at it.
-Turn on your "Mature Content" Filter.
-Leave Deviantart.
